CACTUS D’ALGARLes Fonts de l’Algar 2014The Botanic Garden of Cactus d'Algar, opened in July 2001, is a pioneering project in the Valencian Region and it is located in the town of Callosa d'en Sarrià (Alicante). This garden began to be created in the year 1,996 in a natural area known as "Les Fonts de l'Algar" at the bottom of the Sierra de Bèrnia. In its foundation was attempted to give a special meaning in combining and creating art, always from natural resources that are between a perfect harmony in their placement and distribution. The water factor in the farming town of Callosa d'en Sarrià, is present throughout the journey, with natural springs and small ponds, surrounded by a rustic atmosphere in which there aren't missing elements of the old rural heritage of the area such as rollers, threshers, peelers and many others. Over the years it has become a varied and extensive collection of cactus and succulents, counting approximately with 500 different species. The garden occupies an area of 50,000 m2 garden, with 3,000 meters of paths, divided into a series of exhibition areas, free parking area for visitors and service bar, shop, plant sales, etc ... This enabled without architectural barriers.
